IN OR
OUT?

You're the line judge. The ball lands, the mark stays for a moment, and the crowd wants a call.

Touching the line is IN.Unless it's a pickleball serve on the kitchen line. That's a fault.

CHAIR UMPIRE ORIENTATION

WATCH THE MARK.
MAKE THE CALL.

  1. The ball lands and leaves a mark. The playable side is always below the line.
  2. Call it. Tap IN or OUT, swipe right or left, or use the arrow keys. Hesitate too long and the call is wrong.
  3. Know the rules. Any part of the mark touching the line is IN. The one exception: a pickleball serve that touches the kitchen line is a fault, so it's OUT.
  4. Three challenges. Each wrong call costs one. Every five right calls, the marks get closer and the clock gets shorter.

Fast calls score double. Streaks of 5 and 10 multiply points. Calls decided by under 5 mm earn +2. Clay keeps its marks. Hard court and grass don't.
